About Wilma...

Wilma at work.Wilma Daust Warne (Nee Love) is an artist who works with fabric, needle and thread.

She was born in Port Simpson in the Tsimshian Territory of British Columbia. Her high school and post graduate education were taken in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver. She taught school for a number of years. She then became a full time home maker and mother.

Her pieced quilts and wall hangings have been very successful in competitions in both Manitoba and Ontario.

A recent visit to Port Simpson has stimulated Wilma to express her heritage within the context of her art. You can see her original native designs in her gallery pages - wall hangings, dreamcatchers, placemats, etc.

Wilma was invited to put on this ceremonial button blanket. She was fortunate enough to be able to work on this blanket which was to be used at a wedding and the installation of a new honourary chief at a ceremony in Skidegate, B.C.

"Art includes not only the visible but also the invisible world
- the power of thought to crystallize and draw out
the very essence of what constitutes our own era." .......
